The photography

  The photography is an activity that personaly enjoy to do in my free time, specially in holydays,when  I go to natural places, such as national parks like Conguillio or Huerquehue, both beutiful places in the 9 region,

However, my interest in the photography starts due to my other hobbie, the aquarium plants and fishes. Since I began to keep my fishes, I did want to photograph them, especially with macro shots.

 Therefore, I began to reed about photography, how to use manual mode, especially the shutter speed and exposure time, and also other settings such as saturation, the use of different ISO values and so on.

I started with a very compact and simple Kodak camera ( 3,2 mpx, 3x digital zoom, 2x optical zoom), and then I get a better Kodak camera ( 7,1 mpx, with 4x optical zoom) , then a Samsung (10 mpx, with 5x optical zoom), this one, actually  has a great manual mode, so I did have many settings to play with.

  the past summer, I did have spend more money, and I bought a Nikon camera, a L110 with 12.1 megapixels, Zoom-NIKKOR wide-angle 15, HD video recording with stereo sound, optical zoom HDMI (720p), Shutter Speed​​: 1 / 6 - 1 / 4000 sec and an ISO equivalent to 6400.

The good thing on this camera is the optical zoom, it is a really  impressive thing, the bad thing is the manual mode, is not what I expected, in spite of that, it is a great camera, and I don’t even use the total potencial of it.

Antumapu

When I think in Antumapu, I have very good memories, due to during 5 years I was member of the Antumapu's Rugby team. It was a very good experience, I have meet a  lot of people and the Rugby experience gave me great values for my life.
Another thing that comes to my head is the september 18 holydays  in Antumapu, is a great time to be there, if you study in Antumapu, you must participate in the party.
    I really enjoy my pre graduate years  as a member of the  rugby team, and the partys in Antumapu as well, but now, as a post graduate student, I see antumapu in a diferent way.
I must say the post graduate area is very comfortable, I like very much the fact that we have coffee and cookies in the break time and heating in the class room.
Another thing that I appreciate of Antumapu is the landscape of the faculty, the trees and the colors of the leaf, specially in fall, instead  of  those gray buildings of the universities in the down town.
Despite of that, there is a few things that I  dont like much of Antumapu, such as the non easy signage of the faculty, is very easy to get lost .
The library must be more adecuate for the number of student and with more technological stuff.
Anyway is a great  faculty with it´s own  charms and things for improve.

Ventanas problem

Puchuncavi was the center of  the public health alarm, because the boys and girls  of the school “La Greda”  had signs of heavy metal pollution intoxication.

The pollution of the refinery ventanas, has convert the agriculture zone in a desert zone, all the plants and trees has died in due the pollution.

The people of puchuncavi has made this situation a concern of the authorities.

In the other hand, the miner company said to the community that all this concern is unnecessary, and the refinery is necessary to all, as a source of work to the community specially.

The government said, that all the decisions about close the refinery, must come from Codelco (the miner company).

 The contamination with heavy metals is one of the worst case of intoxication, due to the heavy metals bioaccumulation and his not metabolization.

The intoxication signs could varies according to the time of exposition, the specific heavy metal and the way of contamination (air, water, food).

In this case, seem to be arsenic the principal heavy metal contaminant, plus a chronic exposition and the thing that the principal affected were boys and girls, made of this a huge public health alarm.

The solution of this, could be the close of the refinery, or the move on of the people of the puchuncavi to other place, but the damage to this people it was done.

In the future we hope the government will be more strong in environmental politics, to stop this unfortunately accidents and protect the people and the environment.

More environmental impact studies has to be done before build such refineries

The nuclear leak in Japan

Yesterday, was the 25 anniversary from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster , the biggest nuclear disaster in the world   until 2 months before now, because, the implications of Fukushima leak are still unknown.
Today 45 days after the hearthquake and  tsunami, the situation is still not controled, the Tepco workers says that nine month is going to take to cool down the three reactors of Fukushima nuclear plant.
This disaster has reached the seven level,  in the scale of nuclear disasters, the highest level, as the same of chernobyl.
Beside the caos of the disaster in self, the Japanese authorities haven't said the truth from the beginning of the disaster, this lack of infomation increase the confusion of the Japanese people.
However the Japanese authorities says that this disaster is different of the Chernobil, and the radioactive emisions are a 10º part of the emision released in Chernobyl.
All the world want to know all the implication of this disaster in the human and  animal life, beside enviromental risk of the nuclear leak.
The ambientalist are against the nuclear plants  in Chile, we hope that if a nuclear plant is build in our country , the authorities takes all the precaution, so we will never  going to see another Chernobyl or Fukushima disaster

The website that I like

Hi everyone, today I m going to write about the career- related website that I like.
The site is science direct (http://www.sciencedirect.com/).  This site is a complete base data about general science, has much information about many topics, has a browser and a specific search area, and besides has a news area and a recommended links area.
In the site you can find papers, entire journals, books.
I use the site very often, because when I want to find some information about a specific subject, the first site that I use is science direct, and when I find what I m looking for, I download the paper.
I like this site because, almost every time that I m looking for something  I find it in here, plus  site allows  the paper download and you don’t  have to pay for it most of the times. The Universidad de Chile has an agreement with the site, and that is the reason for the non pay download of papers.
So is a very useful site, I recommend it very much, especially when you have to find new papers to do your doctoral thesis bibliography.

Last movie

Hi everyone , the topic for today is about  the last movie that I saw, and  according to that Im going to write about the movie "Amanda Knox Trial in Italy for  murder", it was a television movie I guess, because Im never hear about it, well,  my girlfriend and I wants to see this movie because is based in a real true story, and the movie was made in Perugia, Italy with a very  nice photography and very beutifull places.

So, the movie was about an american girl, who has won a scholarship to study in Italy, so she travel there, and meet some people and rent a house with them. they also are from others countries , and meet a girl from  England. well, she also meet a boy , and they like each other, and became  a couple. so the movie continue with amanda and her boyfriend killing her friend from england, and the police found clues to send her and her boyfriend to jail but is not so obvious in the movie and other things happend.

Well  the funny thing of this, is that my girlfriend  has won a  scholarship to Perugia in Italy, but for problems she could not go ,so  I was joking about that, and thell her that is actually lucky for not going there.

Hi  everyone, my name is Nicolas Pizarro, I ´m a Vet of the Universidad de Chile,  I have 28 years old, I recently started at  doctorado en ciencias silvoagropecuarias y veterinarias in the Universidad de Chile.
My main interest area of study, is the safety food chain , specially animal origin food.
I created this blog to improve my english skills and comunicate me  with others students arround the world.
My past english experience was not very good at the school, so  I have to learn  by my self,  because in the university I have to read a lot of papers.
