Hi everyone, I like very much this post, because I enjoy sports a lot as a viewer or as a player.

First at all, as a viewer, I like to watch almost all sports on tv, one of my favourite tv chanel is ESPN and also FOX SPORTS as well. I like to watch Futbol, especially Premier league, Calcio and BBVA league. In second place I enjoy watch Rugby, by the way, in this couple of week I have to stay up very late due to Rugby Wolrd Cup 2011 in New Zealand. Actually, today I am going to see Pumas v/s All Blacks Match for the qualification to the semifinals.

Despite of these 2 sports, I enjoy to watch others, like tenis, marcial arts, rally races, sometimes basketball, polo etc.  Of course, I am a sports lover, even I have watched strange sports such as curling.

However, as a player, I just played Futbol and Rugby seriously. Since I remember, in my childhood,  I was always  good for sports in general. I have very good skills such as speed, strength, coordination, balance etc.

When I was in my second university year, I starter to practice Rugby, in the Antumapu Rugby team at south campus.  I began to practice and  I loved it. Specially the bond with my team mates, feel the  apoyo in the field and the adrenaline of the game. I have played almost 5 years. Currently  I hope to come back to the team the next year, meanwhile, I have been playing futbolito in a n amaterur league, is really fun and I hope to win this  championship.

Nevertheless I think that our Chilean Breed, is not very good for sports, we have to recognize that other breeds like the Argentinean are above the Chilean average in sports. But the Chilean  has courage and  hearth to get over his lack of good sports genes.

A peculiar September?

Hi everyone is nice back to write in this, well, the main subject for today is about what happened in this month. I am agree with Lourdes, this September was very weird or peculiar like she said. First we have the anniversary of the miners tragedy and rescueChile lindo, it was supposedly a great celebration, however, Chile always wants to be in the first page of the international papers, thus we have another tragedy in our land, the Juan Fernandez airplane crash. Due this, we have a new saint to pray. Then pass weeks of search and national concern about the tragedy, until September 18 and national holidays, where the people forgot the tragedy, and celebrate the anniversary of our land, as the lord said, drink and eat as much you can.. so that was our  gold to that weekend. Consequently after all the alcohol,, our  brain and liver cells wake up, and remember  all about the student strike.  Then we have another possible tragedy for Chile, a satellite over our heads that could crash in our land. but sadly, it crashes in Canada, and they got all the international concern. At the end of the month, we passes through   a new end of the world, but it was a false alarms again.

Blogging Experience

Hi everyone this post is like an evaluation to the blogging experience.
In general terms I think it was useful to my learning, and to improve my supposed skills in the lenguaje.
I enjoyed to post some of the topics, such as the photograph topic, whereas other ones was more dificult to fill the 300 words.
however, I think that after we receive the connectors material, it was easier to post a topic.
In spite of that, I think the blogging experience helps me to improve my vocabulary, spelling and grammar.
I  never had much difficult to read in English, but I think the activity of posting every week improve the read skills as well.

Something that we can improve , maybe, is the blogg itself, because I think that the bloog is not the best plataform to create participation with the classmates, maybe a page in facebook it would be more interactive.
although, if the bloog continues , I dont have a real problem, is just to create the rutine of view the blogs and posting to the classmates.
The advantages of using the blog in the English class, is more or less what I said before, about practice what we were learn in class, improve our grammar, spelling, vocabulary , write and read, besides the listening and oral skills as well.
The disadvantages of using the blog, is about our personal time, about our other responsabilities, and the time that we dedicated to write the post, in some ocation I wrote something with almost no time, and another ocation I use more time, and I tried to correct the mistakes for example.
Hence, this is a personal problem, and due to my other responsabilities, maybe, I just not use the total potencial of the blogging experience, and some of my weakness, such as my difficulty with the use of the words in past, still there, owing to the same problem.
I'm only hope, that looking to the first topic and comparing with this, the last one, there exist an a real advance and can notice my improve.

Transgenic Food.

Hi today's topic is about one of the newest, controversial and most important biotecnology of the recent years, Transgenics.

In simple words, Transgenic, is put genes from one individual to another complete diferent individual.

Transgenics can be used in different areas of the biology, such as; farmacology, medicin, agronomy and veterinary. In pharmacology for example there is cows that produce human hormones in her milk.

This topic is about  Transgenic food, so then, I think that the people who are against transgenics, is because they dont have enough knowledge about it, in other words, ignorants.

Due to transgenics has many beneficial things, for example the production of  safety food and  the enviroment care, and there is not one single scientific proof of consequences of using transgenic food in the human health.

Nevertheless, scientist  has still  much to study about transgenics, specially about the posible consequences for the human health.

Also the goverment has much to do about control transgenic food, specially about food labeling, because the people has the right to know if the food is transgenic or not, so they can choose what kind of food eat.

Other important thing that the government has to control is the economic part, the posible monopolies and advantages they can get.

In conclusion, the transgenic food is very good to the people, is a strong tool to finish the hunger in the wolrd, to produce better  and safety food, to care the enviromental, but has to be made seriously, consequently, taken care of the great responsability of this biotecnology.

By the way, unless that  you produce your own food, everyone  all ready eat transgenic food, even those who are against transgenic, like the most of the vegetarians who like to eat, specially  soja foods.

Student protests

Hi everyone, this post is about the student protests and manifestations against  the educational system in Chile, which, is very bad, by the way.

Due to the bad conditions of the Chilean education, all the participants, such as school, pregraduate and post graduate university students also teachers and parents association, has made this topic a national  concern.

I dont want to say, who is the guilty of this problem, because, the political decisions made about education in the past years, maybe, it was not to bad in that moment,  however,  now we need a huge change in the educational politics.

One of the principal problems is the excessive number of universities that exist in Chile and the lack of control and regulation about it.

Well, actually, there is a control in the numbers of careers and universities, and that control is the market law.

Even though, the education should not to be controlled by the market, it must to be controlled by the government.

it should be exist a strong government policies, about what really want the country for his future, about the number of professionals , for example more medics more agronomist, less number of journalists

Some universities that not fill the minimum standard quality required, should not exist.

The students that not fill the standers for the universities should not enter to the universities, because, today anyone can join to the university, and that is a problem, since the most probably, is that person not finish the career, and has to pay anyway.

The act of choose a career, have to be seriously and not be a fashion trend.

The university is not the pad,  or the solution  for all the people, due to this, today in Chile exist an over Offer of profesionals, consequently find a job is very dificult and the salaries are very bad comparing  with other countries.

I hope that the government take all this in count, and do the change.

The photography

  The photography is an activity that personaly enjoy to do in my free time, specially in holydays,when  I go to natural places, such as national parks like Conguillio or Huerquehue, both beutiful places in the 9 region,

However, my interest in the photography starts due to my other hobbie, the aquarium plants and fishes. Since I began to keep my fishes, I did want to photograph them, especially with macro shots.

 Therefore, I began to reed about photography, how to use manual mode, especially the shutter speed and exposure time, and also other settings such as saturation, the use of different ISO values and so on.

I started with a very compact and simple Kodak camera ( 3,2 mpx, 3x digital zoom, 2x optical zoom), and then I get a better Kodak camera ( 7,1 mpx, with 4x optical zoom) , then a Samsung (10 mpx, with 5x optical zoom), this one, actually  has a great manual mode, so I did have many settings to play with.

  the past summer, I did have spend more money, and I bought a Nikon camera, a L110 with 12.1 megapixels, Zoom-NIKKOR wide-angle 15, HD video recording with stereo sound, optical zoom HDMI (720p), Shutter Speed​​: 1 / 6 - 1 / 4000 sec and an ISO equivalent to 6400.

The good thing on this camera is the optical zoom, it is a really  impressive thing, the bad thing is the manual mode, is not what I expected, in spite of that, it is a great camera, and I don’t even use the total potencial of it.

Antumapu

When I think in Antumapu, I have very good memories, due to during 5 years I was member of the Antumapu's Rugby team. It was a very good experience, I have meet a  lot of people and the Rugby experience gave me great values for my life.
Another thing that comes to my head is the september 18 holydays  in Antumapu, is a great time to be there, if you study in Antumapu, you must participate in the party.
    I really enjoy my pre graduate years  as a member of the  rugby team, and the partys in Antumapu as well, but now, as a post graduate student, I see antumapu in a diferent way.
I must say the post graduate area is very comfortable, I like very much the fact that we have coffee and cookies in the break time and heating in the class room.
Another thing that I appreciate of Antumapu is the landscape of the faculty, the trees and the colors of the leaf, specially in fall, instead  of  those gray buildings of the universities in the down town.
Despite of that, there is a few things that I  dont like much of Antumapu, such as the non easy signage of the faculty, is very easy to get lost .
The library must be more adecuate for the number of student and with more technological stuff.
Anyway is a great  faculty with it´s own  charms and things for improve.

Ventanas problem

Puchuncavi was the center of  the public health alarm, because the boys and girls  of the school “La Greda”  had signs of heavy metal pollution intoxication.

The pollution of the refinery ventanas, has convert the agriculture zone in a desert zone, all the plants and trees has died in due the pollution.

The people of puchuncavi has made this situation a concern of the authorities.

In the other hand, the miner company said to the community that all this concern is unnecessary, and the refinery is necessary to all, as a source of work to the community specially.

The government said, that all the decisions about close the refinery, must come from Codelco (the miner company).

 The contamination with heavy metals is one of the worst case of intoxication, due to the heavy metals bioaccumulation and his not metabolization.

The intoxication signs could varies according to the time of exposition, the specific heavy metal and the way of contamination (air, water, food).

In this case, seem to be arsenic the principal heavy metal contaminant, plus a chronic exposition and the thing that the principal affected were boys and girls, made of this a huge public health alarm.

The solution of this, could be the close of the refinery, or the move on of the people of the puchuncavi to other place, but the damage to this people it was done.

In the future we hope the government will be more strong in environmental politics, to stop this unfortunately accidents and protect the people and the environment.

More environmental impact studies has to be done before build such refineries

The nuclear leak in Japan

Yesterday, was the 25 anniversary from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster , the biggest nuclear disaster in the world   until 2 months before now, because, the implications of Fukushima leak are still unknown.
Today 45 days after the hearthquake and  tsunami, the situation is still not controled, the Tepco workers says that nine month is going to take to cool down the three reactors of Fukushima nuclear plant.
This disaster has reached the seven level,  in the scale of nuclear disasters, the highest level, as the same of chernobyl.
Beside the caos of the disaster in self, the Japanese authorities haven't said the truth from the beginning of the disaster, this lack of infomation increase the confusion of the Japanese people.
However the Japanese authorities says that this disaster is different of the Chernobil, and the radioactive emisions are a 10º part of the emision released in Chernobyl.
All the world want to know all the implication of this disaster in the human and  animal life, beside enviromental risk of the nuclear leak.
The ambientalist are against the nuclear plants  in Chile, we hope that if a nuclear plant is build in our country , the authorities takes all the precaution, so we will never  going to see another Chernobyl or Fukushima disaster

The website that I like

Hi everyone, today I m going to write about the career- related website that I like.
The site is science direct (http://www.sciencedirect.com/).  This site is a complete base data about general science, has much information about many topics, has a browser and a specific search area, and besides has a news area and a recommended links area.
In the site you can find papers, entire journals, books.
I use the site very often, because when I want to find some information about a specific subject, the first site that I use is science direct, and when I find what I m looking for, I download the paper.
I like this site because, almost every time that I m looking for something  I find it in here, plus  site allows  the paper download and you don’t  have to pay for it most of the times. The Universidad de Chile has an agreement with the site, and that is the reason for the non pay download of papers.
So is a very useful site, I recommend it very much, especially when you have to find new papers to do your doctoral thesis bibliography.

Last movie

Hi everyone , the topic for today is about  the last movie that I saw, and  according to that Im going to write about the movie "Amanda Knox Trial in Italy for  murder", it was a television movie I guess, because Im never hear about it, well,  my girlfriend and I wants to see this movie because is based in a real true story, and the movie was made in Perugia, Italy with a very  nice photography and very beutifull places.

So, the movie was about an american girl, who has won a scholarship to study in Italy, so she travel there, and meet some people and rent a house with them. they also are from others countries , and meet a girl from  England. well, she also meet a boy , and they like each other, and became  a couple. so the movie continue with amanda and her boyfriend killing her friend from england, and the police found clues to send her and her boyfriend to jail but is not so obvious in the movie and other things happend.

Well  the funny thing of this, is that my girlfriend  has won a  scholarship to Perugia in Italy, but for problems she could not go ,so  I was joking about that, and thell her that is actually lucky for not going there.

Hi  everyone, my name is Nicolas Pizarro, I ´m a Vet of the Universidad de Chile,  I have 28 years old, I recently started at  doctorado en ciencias silvoagropecuarias y veterinarias in the Universidad de Chile.
My main interest area of study, is the safety food chain , specially animal origin food.
I created this blog to improve my english skills and comunicate me  with others students arround the world.
My past english experience was not very good at the school, so  I have to learn  by my self,  because in the university I have to read a lot of papers.

So, good luck everyone, I hope that We can reach a very good english level, so we can comunicate without problems.
